Commercial Manager

About the role

MSL Engineering Ltd is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial and contractual performance of multiple mechanical engineering projects. Based in Cork with required site travel, you will work across Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor and Data Centre sectors, ensuring projects are profitable and risks are well‑managed.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all commercial activities for a portfolio of mechanical engineering projects from tender to final account.
• Manage project budgets, cost controls, cash‑flow forecasting and financial reporting.
• Monitor performance against commercial targets and identify margin‑improvement opportunities.
• Review, negotiate and administer client and subcontractor contracts, handling variations, claims and final accounts.
• Provide commercial guidance to project teams and maintain records for claims and negotiations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships in the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical and Semiconductor sectors.
• Mentor Quantity Surveyors and other commercial staff, promoting commercial awareness across delivery teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in commercial management within mechanical construction or similar engineering environments.
• Proven ability to maximise project profitability while managing contractual risk.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience mentoring junior staff.
