Compliance Officer

About the role

The Gallery is seeking a diligent, organised Compliance Officer to support the Head of Legal & Risk and the wider Legal & Compliance team. Reporting to the Governance, Risk & Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the organisation meets its statutory and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general and administrative support to the Legal & Compliance team.
• Drive compliance projects to completion and monitor ongoing obligations, including reporting duties.
• Prepare and maintain compliance registers, legislative records, and Freedom of Information publications.
• Assist with information requests under FOI, Data Protection, and environmental legislation.
• Support risk‑management processes and updates to the Corporate Governance Framework.
• Respond to internal and external audit queries.
• Compile internal reports, summaries, minutes and manage board‑committee administration.
• Maintain the legal and compliance inbox, shared calendar and monthly task schedule.
• Research, prioritise and route incoming issues, especially those of a confidential nature.

Required profile

• Third‑level qualification in law, compliance, corporate governance, project management or a related field.
• Relevant experience in legal, compliance or company secretarial roles.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks to successful completion.
• Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience handling Freedom of Information or data subject access requests.
• Ability to treat confidential information with discretion and work both independently and as part of a team.
