Consultant General Physician – University Hospital Limerick

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Consultant General Physician to join the Medicine Directorate at University Hospital Limerick. This permanent, full‑time position is open to both HSE and non‑HSE applicants and offers the opportunity to work within a leading Irish teaching hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality general medical care to in‑patients and out‑patients.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of acute and chronic care services.
• Participate in clinical teaching, mentorship, and supervision of junior doctors.
• Contribute to service development, audit, and research initiatives.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to hospital policies.

Required profile

• Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland.
• Full medical qualification and eligibility to practice in Ireland.
• Demonstrated experience in general internal medicine at a senior level.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and high standards of patient care.
