Data Center Technician – Technical IT (Contract)

About the role

This contract position supports Microsoft’s data‑centre operations through Allegis Global Solutions. It is an entry‑level, hands‑on role focused on hardware decommissioning, cable removal and basic physical IT tasks, following detailed procedures and checklists.

Key responsibilities

• Remove network and power cables during data‑centre decommissioning.
• Run, label, stage and organise power and network cabling.
• Perform DBD removals (no scanning or data processing).
• Prepare, stage, start up and shut down hardware using written guides.
• Assist with installing, replacing and decommissioning IT equipment.
• Conduct physical audits of data‑centre assets.
• Work onsite during core business hours with flexibility for extended hours.

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of experience in IT or data‑centre support.
• Ability to follow written instructions, checklists and standard operating procedures.
• Comfortable with physical, hands‑on work in a data‑centre environment.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of computer hardware.
• Knowledge of servers and IT components.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.

What we offer

• On‑site work at Grange Castle, Ireland.
• Full‑time schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑4:30 pm (flexible).
• Pay rate €22‑€26 per hour (PAYE).
• Three‑month contract with potential for extension.
