Data Engineer

About the role

MetLife Ireland is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines that support our global insurance and financial services operations. You will work in an Agile and DevOps environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for structured, semi‑structured, and unstructured data.
• Build ingestion frameworks and implement batch and near‑real‑time data integration solutions.
• Develop reusable, configurable data processing frameworks and optimise performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Leverage modern cloud technologies such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
• Coordinate requirements, schedules, and activities across multiple environments.
• Lead Agile and DevOps practices, drive team meetings, and troubleshoot production issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data engineering within a cloud‑based environment.
• Strong understanding of the full systems development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and deliver customer‑focused solutions.
• Leadership mindset in Agile and DevOps settings.
