Software Engineer – Platform Services

About the role

Join Cisco's Common Platform Services team to design and build scalable cloud‑native applications that power modern SaaS delivery. You will work on Kubernetes‑based platforms, focusing on reliability, performance, and security.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement foundational capabilities for the cloud‑native ecosystem, especially Kubernetes layers and underlying infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain automation and tooling for Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management, configuration, and upgrades.
• Create and enhance platform components for networking, storage, security, and resource management.
• Collaborate with SRE, security, networking, and application teams to deliver robust platform capabilities.
• Leverage AI‑assisted engineering tools to boost productivity, code quality, and troubleshooting efficiency.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, incident response, and post‑incident reviews to ensure platform reliability.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in software development or cloud/platform engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) or Python.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and other cloud‑native technologies.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and at least one major public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted engineering tools and observability solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
