Design Engineer

About the role

JFC is seeking a Design Engineer to join its R&D team in Tuam, Co. Galway. The role involves designing and developing products across Marine, Agriculture, Civils and Material Handling sectors, from concept through to re‑engineering and production.

Key responsibilities

• Project‑manage new product development and upgrades of existing products.
• Create detailed product and rotational mould tool designs based on technical specifications.
• Apply design‑for‑manufacture and design‑for‑assembly principles.
• Prepare product specification sheets, bills of materials and related documentation.
• Conduct technical reviews and ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 QMS and CE Marking EN1090.
• Perform product testing to validate designs and meet national and international legislation.
• Collaborate with external suppliers to reduce costs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Level 8).
• 2‑3 years of relevant design experience.
• Results‑driven with a proven track record of delivering projects.
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD, specifically PTC Creo.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
• Understanding of CE Marking EN1090 requirements.
• Experience in product testing and technical documentation.
