Design Manager

About the role

Conack, one of Ireland’s fastest‑growing construction firms, is seeking an experienced Design Manager with an architectural background to lead the design and coordination of Design & Build projects across the country. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from tender and design development through construction and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design process from tender to project completion.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers and specialist designers.
• Ensure design deliverables meet programme, budget and client requirements.
• Chair design meetings, workshops and manage design programmes.
• Maintain compliance with building regulations, planning and statutory requirements (BCAR, FSC, DAC).
• Review drawings, specifications and technical submissions, driving value‑engineering and buildability solutions.
• Oversee BIM coordination and digital design processes in line with ISO 19650.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier design packages and approvals.
• Identify and resolve design risks, clashes and coordination issues.
• Support site teams with RFIs, technical queries and construction‑stage design, and conduct site inspections to verify design intent.

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years’ experience in a Design Manager or senior architectural role.
• Proven experience delivering Design & Build projects valued between €50‑100 million.
• Strong knowledge of Irish Building Regulations and BCAR processes.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
