Design Manager – Modular & Timber Frame Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design development of modular and timber‑frame projects. The role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with standards such as NSAI Agrément and ISO 19650, and delivering detailed design information on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with consultants to produce supporting documentation for NSAI Agrément Certificate and ISO 19650 compliance.
• Act as Design Certifier on projects and support the estimating team on technical bid aspects.
• Build and manage an in‑house drafting and BIM team.
• Oversee design development for modular projects, chair design meetings, and manage the design team lifecycle.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, factories, and construction teams to meet key milestones.
• Manage specialist subcontractor design teams and liaise with local authorities for planning permissions.
• Review construction design information for buildability, budget, legislation, and value‑engineering opportunities.
• Ensure smooth, timely delivery of detailed design data throughout pre‑construction and build phases.

Required profile

• Qualified architect with a degree and RIAI membership (chartered preferred).
• Proven experience in timber‑frame or modular construction.
• Strong communication, negotiation, planning and problem‑solving abilities.
• Track record of successful project delivery in a design coordination or manager role.
• Ability to work collaboratively and meet strict deadlines.
