Director – Civil Engineering (Water Sector)

About the role

Our client, a leading civil contractor in Ireland, is seeking a Director to lead the water sector. Based in Dublin with hybrid working, the role focuses on strategic commercial leadership rather than day‑to‑day project management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to achieve business objectives, growth targets and long‑term vision.
• Oversee delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring safety, quality, programme and budget compliance.
• Drive business development, maintain client relationships and secure new contracts.
• Manage commercial and financial performance, including profitability, budgeting, forecasting and risk management.
• Champion health, safety, environmental and quality culture and ensure statutory compliance.
• Lead, develop and motivate senior management and operational teams.
• Represent the company with clients, stakeholders, regulators and industry partners.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of experience in the civil engineering/construction industry.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant senior leadership experience within a civil engineering contracting environment.
• Proven track record of managing large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial and financial management expertise.
• Comprehensive understanding of construction contracts and procurement methods.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation and communication abilities.
