Director of Software Engineering – AI, Quantum & ML

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead its Foundry R&D team focused on Quantum, AI and Machine Learning initiatives. Based in the European Tech‑hub in Leopardstown, Dublin, you will guide a highly agile group to create innovative payment solutions that scale globally.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a team of senior engineers, delivering software projects with agile and AI‑assisted processes.
• Define requirements for new applications and customizations while adhering to standards and best practices.
• Integrate Quantum computing and AI/ML technologies into software solutions.
• Research, design, and document scalable architectures for global deployment.
• Oversee project management, reporting, and execution of software initiatives.
• Represent the team at internal and external events, fostering partnerships with startups and industry leaders.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising and coaching engineering teams.
• Strong track record of delivering complex software products.
• Passion for emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning and Quantum computing.
• Ability to translate strategic goals into actionable engineering plans.
