Full Stack Engineer – Innovation Team (Remote, Ireland)

About the role

Join the Innovation Team at Matomo to build privacy‑first analytics features. You will own the full lifecycle of new product ideas, from rapid prototyping to integration into Matomo’s core platform, working remotely from anywhere in Ireland.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype and deliver new backend (PHP) and frontend (JavaScript) features that extend Matomo’s analytics capabilities.
• Explore additional technologies such as Python and Node.js to validate AI‑powered insights and analytics concepts.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery, balancing speed with quality while avoiding over‑engineering.
• Identify innovation opportunities across visualization, integrations, and user experience.
• Write automated tests, review code, produce clear documentation, and ensure secure implementation practices.
• Collaborate directly with co‑founders and senior engineers via Slack, Jira and Confluence, sharing prototypes and learnings across the company.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional backend development experience with PHP.
• Solid frontend development skills using JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Python and/or Node.js for rapid experimentation.
• Ability to work autonomously in a small, fully remote team.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and proactive communication.
