Full Stack Engineer – Innovation Team (Remote, Ireland)

About the role

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our Innovation Team and build privacy‑first analytics features for Matomo’s core platform. Working remotely from anywhere in Ireland, you will collaborate closely with the CTO and senior engineers to turn high‑impact concepts into production‑ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype and deliver new backend (PHP) and frontend (JavaScript) features that extend Matomo’s analytics capabilities.
• Work with additional technologies such as Python and Node.js when required.
• Rapidly explore, validate and integrate AI‑powered insights and other innovative product ideas.
• Own ideas from concept through deployment, balancing speed with quality and avoiding over‑engineering.
• Identify and resolve blockers, escalating when necessary, and ensure secure, scalable implementations.
• Write automated tests, review code and produce clear technical documentation.
• Collaborate with co‑founders and senior engineers via Slack, Jira and Confluence, sharing prototypes and learnings across the company.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional backend development experience with PHP.
• Proven ability to deliver full‑stack features using JavaScript.
• Experience working in small, autonomous, remote teams.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and proactive communication skills.
