General Counsel

About the role

The International professional service firm is seeking a General Counsel to lead its in‑house legal function. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, the role provides strategic legal advice to senior leadership and supports the firm’s compliance, risk, and governance frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Managing Partner and executive teams on legal, regulatory and reputational risks, attending Executive Leadership Team and Policy Committee meetings.
• Manage the in‑house legal team, including an Associate General Counsel and ten solicitors.
• Oversee relationships with external counsel and professional indemnity arrangements.
• Develop and maintain policies for AML compliance, data protection, digital/AI usage, and engagement contracting.
• Monitor emerging legislation in Ireland, the UK and internationally, ensuring firm-wide compliance.
• Support litigation matters and governance committees.
• Create a compliance framework to oversee adherence to laws and regulations across the practice.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience as a General Counsel or senior partner in a law firm.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships across a professional services organization.
• Track record of developing and implementing legal policies and managing compliance programs.
• Demonstrated capability to protect the firm’s reputation and manage complex legal risks.
