Global Rail Major Projects Director – Ireland

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Global Rail Major Projects Director to lead the delivery of high‑profile rail programmes across Ireland and internationally. Based in Ireland, the director will oversee the rollout of MetroLink, heavy‑rail upgrades in Dublin and Cork, and the expansion of the Luas light‑rail system, contributing to the country’s decarbonisation and transport growth objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of major rail infrastructure projects.
• Manage relationships with public authorities such as the National Transport Authority, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, and Irish Rail.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, and risk management to ensure successful outcomes.
• Develop and implement strategic delivery frameworks aligned with national transport plans.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across AECOM’s Irish offices in Dublin, Belfast, Cork, and Galway.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering large‑scale rail or transport infrastructure projects.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Deep understanding of the Irish transport sector and public‑private partnership models.
• Ability to work in a fast‑moving, globally integrated environment.
