About the role
The Health & Safety Advisor with HR will support the organisation in identifying workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, and assisting the HR team with recruitment and related projects. This role operates within a regulated financial services environment and works closely with management to promote a safe and compliant workplace.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate identification of workplace hazards, assess risks and advise on control measures.
- Design and deliver health and safety training programmes.
- Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and response procedures.
- Liaise with emergency procedure owners to ensure fire prevention and safe evacuation.
- Advise on legislative requirements, standards and codes of practice.
- Facilitate development, communication and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in preparation, review and communication of the Safety Statement and Safety Management System.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, maintain records and monitor corrective actions.
- Manage VDU risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents, dangerous occurrences and near‑misses and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare analysis and regular reports of unsafe incidents and accidents.
- Advise management on employee health and safety matters.
- Support HR projects, including high‑volume recruitment.
Required profile
- Relevant third‑level qualification in Health and Safety (minimum Higher Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work).
- 1‑2 years of experience in a similar health and safety role.
- Familiarity with current health and safety legislation, especially within the financial services sector.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Qualified Manual Handling and DSE Assessor Trainer.
