Health & Safety Officer

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Health & Safety Officer to join PHX Ireland and help develop our health and safety standards and culture. Working closely with the Head of H&S and operational teams, you will ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and promote safe working practices across our sites.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the site H&S management system, including policies, procedures, records and registers.
• Complete and review risk assessments and safe systems of work for all tasks as directed.
• Ensure compliance with H&S legislation and company standards, handling required reporting and record‑keeping.
• Conduct inspections, behavioural safety checks, internal audits and support regulatory/customer audits.
• Coordinate induction, refresher and statutory training, maintaining training records and liaising with external providers.
• Support incident reporting, investigations, root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through visible engagement and coaching.
• Organise fire drills, check emergency equipment and ensure documentation is up to date.
• Assist with H&S Committee meetings, agenda preparation and tracking of actions.
• Prepare EHS KPI reports, present performance updates and liaise with insurers, regulators and other external stakeholders.
