IBM i (iSeries) System Administrator

About the role

SS&C is seeking an experienced IBM i (iSeries/IBMi) System Administrator to join its hybrid team in London. You will be responsible for maintaining large IBM i environments that support the company’s financial services and healthcare technology clients.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support IBM i (iSeries/IBMi) systems to ensure stability, performance, and security.
• Perform OS upgrades, apply patches, and manage Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs) and cumulative PTF packages.
• Monitor CPU, memory, storage, and disk utilization, proactively resolving performance issues.
• Manage backup and recovery operations using BRMS or equivalent tools, including disaster‑recovery planning and testing.
• Configure and maintain LPAR environments, TCP/IP networking, and connected devices.
• Create and maintain user profiles, security settings, and access controls in line with compliance policies.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and infrastructure issues, coordinating with vendors as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of IBM i (iSeries/IBMi) system administration experience.
• Hands‑on experience with OS upgrades, PTF management, security administration, and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of IBM Power Systems architecture.
• Experience with BRMS or similar backup/recovery solutions and disaster‑recovery processes.
• Proficiency in managing LPARs and TCP/IP configurations.
• Knowledge of IBM i security concepts, user authorities, and auditing.
• Familiarity with CL, SQL, or RPG scripting is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
