In-House Motor Engineer – Claims Vendor Management

About the role
The Claims Vendor Management Team at FBD is looking for an In‑House Motor Engineer to support our Claims Handlers. You will use your expertise in vehicle and agricultural machinery assessment to help customers settle claims quickly and with minimal stress.
Key responsibilities
- Perform desktop assessments for standard accidental damage, pre‑theft valuations and diminution opinions.
- Provide expert opinions on complex, disputed or second‑opinion claims.
- Report regularly on performance metrics such as inspections completed, lifecycle times and labour rates.
- Attend quarterly business review meetings with key vendors.
- Train handlers on process improvements.
- Co‑ordinate and execute audits of vehicle‑related vendors, repair networks and assessing partners.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and share industry insights on market trends, technologies and challenges.
Required profile
- Registered member of the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors (IAEA).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Motor Assessor, covering private, commercial and agricultural vehicles.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
Required skills
- Expert understanding of the Audatex system.
