Infection Control Nurse – Hospital Epidemiology

About the role

The Infection Control Nurse will lead infection prevention initiatives in a multi‑specialty hospital, ensuring patient and staff safety through robust epidemiology practices and outbreak management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor infection control policies in line with regulations and hospital standards.
• Conduct regular clinical audits to assess compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Establish and maintain surveillance systems to track infection rates and trends across all departments.
• Lead investigations of hospital‑acquired infection outbreaks, ensuring timely containment and accurate reporting.
• Educate clinical and support staff via training sessions, workshops and ongoing communications.
• Collaborate with management, quality and clinical teams to enhance patient safety strategies.
• Analyse surveillance data, prepare reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Support accreditation and compliance activities with local, national and international standards.
• Provide expert guidance during new program launches, risk assessments and policy updates.
• Mentor junior staff, fostering professional growth and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• GNM or B.Sc. Nursing with a recognized infection control diploma/certificate and registration with the Delhi Nursing Council.
• Minimum 10 years of nursing experience, including at least 5 years as an Infection Control Nurse in a 200‑bed+ hospital.
• Strong expertise in infection control, hospital epidemiology and outbreak management.
• Proven ability to design and operate surveillance systems and conduct clinical audits.
• Commitment to patient safety and continuous staff education.
