Internal Communications Specialist – Sustainable Business (12‑month contract)

About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term position supports a large corporate’s Business Development & Marketing team. The Internal Communications Specialist will manage firm‑wide internal communications and lead the Sustainable Business programme, helping to strengthen employee engagement and embed ESG initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage internal communications across intranet platforms, digital displays and internal systems.
• Develop and maintain the internal communications calendar for campaigns, announcements and ongoing initiatives.
• Draft, edit and publish leadership messages, updates, feature articles and campaign content.
• Ensure intranet content is accurate and up‑to‑date.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align messaging with brand and market positioning.
• Use insights and analytics to improve communication effectiveness.
• Lead the Sustainable Business programme, delivering ESG plans and supporting future sustainability strategies.
• Coordinate wellbeing, diversity & inclusion, environmental, community and pro‑bono initiatives.
• Support governance structures, steering groups and internal committees.
• Manage relationships with external charities, accreditation bodies and industry organisations.
• Oversee sustainability reporting, data collection and target monitoring.
• Promote colleague engagement through campaigns, volunteering and internal events.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in internal communications within a large organisation (250+ employees).
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and build relationships at all organisational levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
