Lead Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to drive reliability, scalability and performance of its global payment platforms. The role sits within the Business Operations team and acts as the production‑readiness steward for Mastercard products, working closely with development teams to embed operational excellence from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure platform stability and health by defining and enforcing operational standards.
• Partner with developers to embed automation, capacity planning and robust monitoring into the software lifecycle.
• Lead incident triage, root‑cause analysis and blameless post‑mortems to continuously improve service reliability.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams on SRE best practices and foster a culture of proactive production management.
• Drive proactive engagement during design and change phases to maximise customer experience and business value.

Required profile

• Proven experience in site reliability engineering or related operations roles.
• Strong technical expertise with a passion for automation and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a data‑driven approach to incident management.
