Learning & Development Manager

About the role

The Learning & Development Manager leads the L&D department in delivering compliance‑driven and capability‑building training across Alternative Heat’s manufacturing, engineering and site operations. This senior position partners with senior leaders to close competency gaps, support succession planning and ensure the workforce remains audit‑ready.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor training programmes that meet statutory, regulatory, client and ISO requirements for construction and MEP sectors.
• Develop and maintain competency frameworks, qualification matrices and career progression pathways for assigned business units.
• Collaborate with senior managers to identify skill gaps, create succession plans and align learning initiatives with business objectives.
• Oversee delivery of technical, safety and compliance training for off‑site fabrication, site installation, commissioning and support services.
• Ensure all personnel are certified, competent and audit‑ready at all times, reporting on training effectiveness and compliance status.
• Lead a small team of trainers and administrators, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience in learning and development within a manufacturing, engineering or construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of statutory, safety and ISO standards applicable to the construction and MEP sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to design competency frameworks and manage large‑scale training programmes.
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience influencing senior leaders.
• Track record of delivering results that improve compliance, capability and employee engagement.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of ISO standards and industry certifications.
• Expertise in compliance‑focused training design and delivery.
