Lecturer in Epidemiology (Full‑time, Permanent)

About the role

The Department of Public Health & Epidemiology at RCSI seeks a motivated Lecturer in Epidemiology to deliver high‑quality teaching for undergraduate medicine and postgraduate population health programmes, while contributing to the department’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver epidemiology teaching materials for Direct Entry and Graduate Entry Medicine programmes.
• Design, coordinate and grade in‑module and end‑of‑module assessments.
• Contribute to postgraduate teaching and curriculum development in population health.
• Supervise undergraduate, Masters and PhD students.
• Maintain an active research profile, publish in peer‑reviewed journals and engage in grant activity.
• Provide academic service across RCSI schools and the international campus in Bahrain.

Required profile

• PhD in Epidemiology or a related discipline (e.g., Biostatistics, Health Services Research).
• Proven experience teaching epidemiology or quantitative health sciences at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
• Experience in curriculum design and assessment development.
• Strong quantitative background with a record of high‑quality publications or grant funding.
• Effective communication and time‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata.
