About the role
The Licensing Lawyer will join William Fry’s Litigation and Investigations team, providing specialist advice on licensing and regulatory matters for clients in the retail and hospitality sectors. You will work closely with partners and solicitors to deliver commercial‑focused solutions and manage the full lifecycle of licensing applications.
Key responsibilities
- Advise clients on licensing requirements, processes and compliance obligations across relevant sectors.
- Prepare and present court applications, and manage licence applications, renewals, variations and transfers.
- Draft correspondences, submissions and supporting documentation for regulatory authorities.
- Liaise with regulators, advisers and third parties to progress applications and resolve issues.
- Track licence conditions, renewal dates and compliance obligations for clients.
- Conduct legal and regulatory research to support advisory work.
- Maintain accurate client files in line with confidentiality and risk‑management procedures.
- Support client relationship management and contribute to business development initiatives where appropriate.
Required profile
- Experience working in licensing, regulatory or legal support within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Familiarity with Irish and/or EU regulatory frameworks relevant to retail and hospitality clients.
- Strong academic or professional background in law, compliance or a related discipline.
- Prior experience in a top‑tier or mid‑tier law firm, preferably with transactional or advisory work.
