Maintenance Operative

About the role

Egis is seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Operative to support day‑to‑day road maintenance activities across its transport and infrastructure projects. The role involves routine upkeep, emergency response and seasonal work to ensure a safe and well‑maintained road network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call cover for emergency incidents.
• Perform routine tasks such as landscaping, grass cutting, litter collection and road‑furniture cleaning.
• Carry out traffic‑management duties and conduct regular patrols and inspections of the road network.
• Respond to incidents, manage winter maintenance and undertake small civil works including concrete repairs and ducting.
• Repair fencing, operate basic excavation equipment and maintain accurate records of completed tasks.
• Complete all required training and follow directions from the Maintenance Supervisor.

Required profile

• Secondary‑level education (2nd level) and a valid Safe Pass.
• Relevant experience in construction or maintenance, preferably on road projects.
• Commitment to health and safety practices and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to provide 24/7 on‑call cover, work irregular hours and night shifts.
• Own transport for on‑call duties.

Required skills

• Valid Safe Pass holder.
• Traffic Management certification.
• Class C driver’s licence.
• CSCS Excavator Operator Ticket.
• CSCS Telescopic Handler Operator Ticket.
• Ability to use mobile devices and related apps for work recording.
