Own Brand Specification and Training Lead

About the role

Musgrave is seeking an Own Brand Specification and Training Lead to join its Own Brand team in Cork. The role will own the specification system for retail own‑brand products and deliver training to suppliers and internal teams, ensuring compliance, health focus and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Own Brand specification system and associated training programme across suppliers and internal teams.
• Provide expert advice on specification writing, food legislation, sustainability, horizon scanning and health‑related requirements.
• Design, deliver and manage training for the Own Brand team.
• Act as health lead, advising on strategy, legislative developments and product reformulation.
• Drive reformulation projects to reduce fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt, liaising with external industry stakeholders.
• Identify and implement improvements to the specification system, processes and documentation.
• Conduct internal audits of product specifications to ensure EU, UK and Irish regulatory compliance.
• Support policy development within cross‑functional working groups.
• Manage communications activities, surveys, campaigns and external outreach.
• Oversee relationships with external consultants, regulatory advisors and system providers, including contracts and KPIs.
• Collaborate with industry experts, government bodies and academic partners to stay abreast of legislation and best practice.

Required profile

• Third‑level degree in Food Technology, Food Science or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in food specification, regulatory compliance and product reformulation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead training programmes and manage cross‑functional projects.
• Strong knowledge of EU, UK and Irish food legislation and sustainability standards.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
