Platform Engineer

About the role

Realta is looking for a Platform Engineer to join its Fraud & Risk Management R&D Centre of Excellence in Limerick. You will design, deploy and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure that powers AI‑driven solutions for fraud detection, risk assessment and regulatory compliance in the financial sector.

Key responsibilities

• Design, provision and manage AWS infrastructure (VPCs, subnets, storage tiers) using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Optimize resources for performance, scalability and cost efficiency through auto‑scaling, rightsizing and Reserved Instances.
• Implement security hardening, including IAM roles, security groups, WAF rules and encryption.
• Deploy and operate cloud‑native services such as API Gateway, Cognito, ECS/Fargate, EKS and related components.
• Configure observability tools (CloudWatch, Grafana, ELK Stack, Prometheus) to monitor health and performance.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and security teams to translate designs into secure implementations.
• Enforce tagging, resource limits and governance standards.
• Manage relational and NoSQL databases (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB) with performance tuning and disaster‑recovery focus.
• Research emerging technologies, conduct PoCs and document designs, procedures and cost‑optimisation strategies.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience with major cloud providers, preferably AWS.
• Strong background in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (HCL) or CloudFormation.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, security best practices and cost‑management.
• Experience working in cross‑functional teams and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
