Principal Architect – Cloud‑Native SaaS Platform

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Principal Architect to shape the technical architecture of a cloud‑native SaaS platform in Dublin. The role combines strategic design with day‑to‑day engineering leadership, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure and resilient.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the overall platform architecture, technical standards and design principles.
• Drive decisions that support scalability, resilience, security and long‑term sustainability.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, governance, mentoring and technical‑debt management.
• Lead cloud and infrastructure architecture, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability and deployment best practices.
• Define data and integration architecture, covering APIs, enterprise integrations, data governance and security.
• Establish AI adoption standards, governance, model validation and integration of AI into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering and Delivery teams to align technical strategy with business objectives and act as escalation point for complex designs.

Required profile

• 8‑10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on architecture or technical leadership.
• Proven track record designing and evolving cloud‑native SaaS platforms at scale.
• Experience building highly available, secure, large‑scale distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical direction across multiple engineering teams.

Required skills

• Microservices, event‑driven architecture, APIs and distributed systems.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• CI/CD, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, containerisation and automation.
• SQL and NoSQL databases, caching, messaging and data architecture.
• Security frameworks, encryption, compliance, observability and monitoring.
• AI/ML integration, AI‑assisted development practices and model validation.
