Principal – Lihir International School

About the role

The Principal of Lihir International School will provide strategic and operational leadership for both the International School and the School‑to‑Mine campus. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures high‑quality learning outcomes, a safe inclusive environment, and strong partnerships with parents, community stakeholders and Newmont.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operations, strategic direction and overall performance of both school sites.
• Coach, mentor and manage teaching and non‑teaching staff to foster a positive, inclusive, high‑performing culture.
• Oversee curriculum development, implementation and continuous improvement.
• Manage school budgets, facilities, contractors, technology resources and administrative functions.
• Build and maintain relationships with students, parents, the School Council, community stakeholders and local schools.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and educational standards.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in an international or multicultural school setting.
• Strong track record of staff development and performance management.
• Ability to drive curriculum excellence and student pathway success.
• Experience managing budgets, facilities and external service providers.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
