Privacy Counsel – Data Protection Lawyer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated, commercially‑savvy Privacy Lawyer to support day‑to‑day data protection and privacy compliance for our EU‑based online commerce business. The role works closely with the Data Protection Officer, Senior Privacy Counsel and various business teams to ensure personal data is handled responsibly under the GDPR and related regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical, risk‑based legal advice on data protection matters across the business.
• Support compliance with GDPR, ePrivacy rules, consumer privacy requirements and other applicable laws.
• Review new products, features, marketing campaigns, analytics tools, cookies and customer‑facing processes for privacy impact.
• Conduct and document Data Protection Impact Assessments where required.
• Maintain records of processing activities, data inventories, privacy notices and internal policies.
• Review and negotiate privacy clauses in commercial agreements, including data processing agreements and international transfer provisions.
• Handle escalated customer complaints and regulatory inquiries from authorities such as the Irish DPC and UK ICO.
• Assist the DPO with audits, investigations, regulatory submissions and evidence gathering.
• Monitor developments in privacy law and communicate updates to internal stakeholders.
• Support privacy training, awareness initiatives and compliance monitoring.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in data protection and privacy law, preferably within a digital or e‑commerce environment.
• Strong understanding of the GDPR, ePrivacy Directive and related EU privacy frameworks.
• Experience handling privacy impact assessments, data subject rights requests and breach response processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and external advisers.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
