Project Engineer – Wastewater Treatment Facility

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join the team responsible for the operation and capital projects of one of Ireland’s largest wastewater treatment facilities. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary capital‑maintenance projects valued at over €3 million annually and support the transition to a future Project Manager role.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and maintain project documentation, including reports, drawings, calculations, specifications and tender packages.
• Develop detailed project budgets and resource‑loaded work programmes.
• Coordinate with PSCS, PSDP, client, operations and other stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
• Provide technical advice, support bids and manage selected projects from conception to “for construction” stage.
• Supervise contractors, respond to client RFIs and prepare/review RAMS.
• Identify, prioritize and schedule capital maintenance projects based on equipment condition and criticality.
• Manage service level agreements and contractor performance to ensure plant uptime.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead project teams and foster collaboration.
• Strong risk‑assessment capability and understanding of equipment criticality.
• Experience delivering design work from feasibility through to construction documentation.
• Clear communication skills for interfacing with operations and external partners.

Required skills

• PRINCE2 or PMP methodology (qualification or demonstrable experience).
• Project budgeting and cost control.
• RAMS preparation and review.
• Risk assessment of plant equipment.
• SLA and contractor management.
