Public Area Assistant

About the role

The Merrion, a luxury 5‑star hotel in the heart of Dublin, is seeking a Public Area Assistant to join its Accommodation Services team. You will help maintain the hotel’s public spaces to the highest standards, ensuring guests experience a clean, safe and welcoming environment at all times.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver warm, professional service to guests and anticipate their needs.
• Maintain all public areas—including lobbies, corridors, and gardens—in pristine condition, adhering to 5‑star cleanliness and safety standards.
• Monitor and report any maintenance issues in public spaces according to hotel policy.
• Handle lost property following departmental procedures.
• Use equipment, chemicals and materials safely, keeping storage areas tidy and organized.
• Uphold health, safety, hygiene and fire regulations at all times.
• Promote hotel services and support upselling opportunities.

Required profile

• Excellent attention to detail with a pride in maintaining luxury standards.
• Courteous and effective communication with guests and colleagues.
• Flexible, reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Understanding of discreet, anticipative guest service.
• Willingness to follow procedures and adapt to changing hotel needs.
• Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience in a hotel is desirable but not essential.
