R&D Design Engineer – Contract (Medical Devices)

About the role

We are seeking an R&D Design Engineer to join a global medical device company in Limerick on a contract basis. The role focuses on designing and developing innovative medical devices, taking concepts through to market‑ready products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype and develop medical device components.
• Create and execute test designs, verification & validation (V&V) protocols and conduct reviews.
• Prepare and present design documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform risk analysis and manage risk mitigation activities.
• Drive process development engineering and introduce new equipment, materials and technologies.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering or related field.
• 1‑5 years of R&D engineering experience on medical device products.
• Solid understanding of regulatory requirements for medical devices.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and work on‑site 2‑3 days per week.
• Available to start ASAP (June).
