R&D Project Engineer – Product Development

About the role

As a member of the IKON team at Kingspan, you will lead the testing and development of new and existing high-performance insulation and building envelope products, ensuring robust design and performance criteria are met.

Key responsibilities

• Manage new product development projects and drive product improvements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and other cross-functional teams throughout the development cycle.
• Execute design, prototyping and testing activities while maintaining accurate documentation.
• Prepare technical reports, record development data and suggest improvements based on test results.
• Analyse and review test data to optimise design and product performance.
• Conduct research on industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Provide technical support to other departments and liaise with engineering, operations and technical functions.
• Report project status, timelines and ensure compliance with ISO 37301, ISO 9001, CE marking and relevant EN standards.

Required profile

• ME or BEng (Level 8) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in R&D or a similar environment.
• Hands‑on approach to mechanical testing and building test rigs.
• Willingness to travel and a full clean driving licence (IRL/UK/EU).
• Ability to work safely and maintain good housekeeping.
