Relief Instructor – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Role

About the role

We are seeking a Relief Instructor to join our team for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract at our Kilkenny centre. The role involves delivering structured training to individuals with disabilities, supporting their vocational rehabilitation and community integration.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver systematic training in line with approved curricula and the Training Programme Specification.
• Maintain accurate records of trainee progress and produce required reports for internal and external quality standards.
• Assess each trainee’s rehabilitation needs and create individualized profiles.
• Model and reinforce positive work attitudes and behaviours, providing constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with peers, managers and the Programme Development Officer to design innovative curricula and interventions.
• Plan and implement community‑integration activities in accordance with HSE New Directions.

Required profile

• Third‑level or further‑education qualification, preferably in Education, Training or Social Sciences.
• Relevant pedagogical or training qualification such as “Train the Trainer”.
• Experience working in a specialised training environment with young people who have additional support needs (intellectual disabilities, ASD, physical, sensory or mental‑health challenges).

Required skills

• Ability to develop and adapt curricula and training materials.
• Proficiency in record‑keeping and reporting against quality standards.
