About the role
The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) in the Emergency Department provides immediate, comprehensive care to patients presenting with urgent medical needs. Working in a fast‑paced, 24/7 environment, the RMO conducts initial assessments, initiates life‑saving treatments, and supports continuous patient monitoring.
Key responsibilities
- Perform physical examinations, diagnose conditions, and start treatment for all new emergency admissions.
- Respond to casualty calls, deliver BLS/ACLS life support, and stabilize critical patients before consultant involvement.
- Implement treatment plans, monitor vital signs, order and review investigations such as labs and imaging.
- Coordinate effectively with nurses, specialists, and senior doctors during rounds and complex cases.
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date patient records and prepare comprehensive discharge summaries.
Required profile
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree with valid registration with the DMC.
- Minimum 1 + year of hands‑on experience in an emergency or hospital setting.
- Strong clinical, diagnostic, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
Required skills
- BLS/ACLS certification (preferred).
