Sanctions & Exports Control Lawyer

About the role

A&L Goodbody's Sanctions & Export Controls group, described as the leading sanctions and export controls team in the Irish market, is looking for solicitors to join its team. The role advises domestic and international clients on sanctions and export control laws, covering compliance programmes, investigations and prosecutions, reporting obligations and the impact of sanctions on commercial transactions. It combines regulatory expertise with the firm's white-collar and litigation and disputes practice.

Key responsibilities

• Advise major Irish and international businesses on how sanctions and export controls affect their operations, transactions and supply chains
• Translate new sanctions, export control and geopolitical developments into clear, practical guidance for clients
• Find commercially minded solutions to sanctions and export control queries while advising on investigations and possible prosecutions
• Advise corporates on white-collar crime exposure, including fraud, bribery and corruption, money laundering and corporate offences
• Represent clients before regulators such as the Central Bank of Ireland and the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, from seeking authorisations to responding to information requests, investigations and dawn raids
• Work with the white-collar and disputes teams on complex, high-profile corporate crises combining regulatory scrutiny and civil litigation

Required profile

• Solicitor with a genuine interest in sanctions, export controls, white-collar crime or regulatory investigations
• Ideally 1-4 years of PQE gained in a large, medium or boutique corporate law firm
• Experience or interest in the listed areas of focus
