School Manager – School of Political Science & Sociology (Grade 5)

About the role

The University of Galway invites applications for a permanent School Manager position (Grade 5, 1 FTE) within the School of Political Science and Sociology, part of the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day‑to‑day administration of the School, ensuring efficient operation of academic and support services.
• Manage budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation in line with university policies.
• Coordinate staffing, recruitment, and professional development for school personnel.
• Liaise with senior management, faculty, and external bodies to support strategic initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, including Garda vetting where required.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in higher‑education administration or comparable managerial role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.
• Strong understanding of university governance, finance, and HR processes.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and ability to obtain any required authorisations.
