Senior Energy Trader

About the role

GridBeyond is seeking a Senior Energy Trader to own trading and commercial optimisation for its GB energy asset portfolio. The role will focus on the GB wholesale, Balancing Mechanism and ancillary service markets while supporting other markets as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute trading and asset optimisation strategies to maximise commercial performance and manage risk.
• Analyse market developments, fundamentals and trends to inform trading decisions and respond to regulatory changes.
• Maintain relationships with customers, market partners, counterparties and exchanges to support trading activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies, and monitor P&L and trading metrics.
• Collaborate with risk, finance, operations, sales and legal teams, and support onboarding of new assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3‑5+ years of experience in power trading, asset optimisation or a closely related energy‑market role.
• Strong knowledge of the GB electricity market, including wholesale, Balancing Mechanism and ancillary services.
• Experience with physical energy assets such as battery storage, renewable generation or demand‑side assets is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative and communication skills with a strong ownership mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with trading platforms and market analysis tools.
• Experience using automated trading or asset optimisation systems.
• Solid understanding of risk management principles and practices.
