Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Marketplace Dynamics (Remote, Ireland)

About the role

Yelp is looking for an entrepreneurial, self‑driven senior machine learning scientist to shape the future of optimization in its Service Marketplace. You will work on large‑scale data, develop predictive and causal models, and build scalable production systems while collaborating with product and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and own challenging problems, form testable hypotheses, and drive significant business impact.
• Lead design and analysis of experiments or develop causal and predictive models to test ideas.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to implement changes in production systems and communicate conclusions to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Keep the team current on new developments in machine learning and statistics by reading papers and attending conferences.
• Productionize and automate model pipelines within Python services.

Required profile

• Experience with data analysis/statistical software and packages (pandas, statsmodels, scikit‑learn, Python, R).
• Experience with predictive modeling, machine learning, forecasting, or causal inference.
• Comfortable working in a Unix environment.
• Sufficient software‑engineering skills to work effectively with engineers.
• Demonstrated capability for original research, curiosity, and persistence to bring ideas to completion.
• Motivation to develop deep product and business knowledge and connect abstract modeling tasks with business value.
