Senior Medical Officer – Community Child Health & Immunisation

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) Mid West is seeking a Senior Medical Officer to lead community‑based child health and immunisation services across Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary. This role combines clinical expertise with service development to ensure high‑quality paediatric care in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and evaluate child health and immunisation programmes in community settings.
• Provide direct paediatric clinical assessments and interventions.
• Supervise and mentor multidisciplinary teams delivering child health services.
• Ensure compliance with national health guidelines and HSE policies.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives and regional health planning.

Required profile

• Medical degree with full registration on the Irish Medical Council register.
• Significant senior‑level experience in community child health and immunisation services.
• Demonstrated expertise in paediatrics relevant to community practice.
• Ability to work across the Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary region.
