Senior Mine Planning Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mine Planning Engineer to join Simberi Gold Company Limited’s Simberi Operation in Papua New Guinea on a three‑year fixed‑term basis. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will lead the development and optimisation of medium‑term mine plans aligned with the company’s strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Own the creation, implementation and ongoing management of medium‑term mine plans and associated projects.
• Assist in preparing the annual three‑year budget and operating capital cost estimates.
• Deliver timely, optimised monthly and quarterly forecasts in line with approved budgets and Life‑of‑Mine plans.
• Coordinate accurate reporting through the Mine Technical Services department to stakeholders.
• Design, coordinate or participate in major mining projects with MTS, operations and contractors.
• Update strategic mine designs to ensure safe, practical and efficient execution.
• Provide training, coaching and mentoring to engineering staff.
• Support development of strategic mine plans, Life‑of‑Mine plans, cut‑off grade estimation and ore reserve preparation.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and liaise with suppliers for timely services.

Required profile

• Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in the mining industry, particularly in mine design and planning.
• Proven ability to develop and manage medium‑term mine plans.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and Life‑of‑Mine planning.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
