Senior Principal Software Engineer

About the role

Mastercard’s Foundry R&D team in Dublin is seeking a Senior Principal, Software Engineering to lead the design and delivery of large‑scale, enterprise software solutions. As a technical authority you will shape architecture, drive development practices and ensure the reliability of critical payment platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide thought‑leadership and deep technical expertise across multiple services and applications.
• Design and deliver scalable, secure, resilient software that meets functional and non‑functional requirements.
• Drive architectural decisions, ensuring alignment with long‑term platform vision and enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders and engineering teams to translate strategy into concrete solutions.
• Estimate, plan and own end‑to‑end delivery including design, coding, testing, deployment and operational readiness.
• Review code, design and test artifacts to uphold quality, security, performance and maintainability.
• Diagnose and resolve complex production, security and performance issues using root‑cause analysis.
• Champion automation in build, deployment, testing and observability to improve reliability and speed.
• Contribute to strategic technical decisions influencing product direction and engineering practices.
