Senior Scientific Officer

About the role

Our client is seeking a Senior Scientific Officer to lead innovative research at the crossroads of academia, laboratory science and commercial strategy. The role is permanent and based in Ireland, offering the chance to shape scientific direction for a multinational organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead cutting‑edge research programmes, analyse complex data and publish peer‑reviewed papers.
• Collaborate with multinational companies to develop new commercial testing services and product innovations.
• Represent the organisation at international conferences, deliver keynote lectures and contribute to standards committees.
• Mentor and develop junior scientists, fostering a high‑performing research team.
• Work with executive leadership to define long‑term scientific strategy for the group.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent deep research experience in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Expertise in one or more of the following: aerosol science, environmental health, chemistry, toxicology, exposure science, mechanical or biomedical engineering, virology, microbiology, immunology, indoor air quality, building physics, fluid dynamics or public health.
• Proven experience bridging academia and industry, such as industrial R&D, contract research organisations, regulated testing laboratories, medical technologies, diagnostics, or environmental/air‑cleaning technologies (HVAC, filtration, building science).
