Senior Software Engineer - Python & Containers

About the role

Motorola Solutions is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join an Agile Scrum team developing containerized Linux user-space applications and services for mission-critical land mobile radio communications products. The role focuses on writing modern Python services in container environments, debugging existing C++ subsystems, and working in an RF telecommunications context. The position is on-site in Cork.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain Linux user-space applications using modern Python in containerized environments.
• Use approved AI-assisted development tools and integrate AI/ML capabilities or automated analytics into engineering workflows where applicable.
• Develop networking applications using socket programming, TCP/IP and UDP, and Linux user-space interactions.
• Build and expand test suites for unit, integration and end-to-end testing.
• Read, interface with and debug legacy or embedded C/C++ codebases and APIs.
• Work with RF domain concepts, radio infrastructure and network protocols during product integration.
• Integrate code into automated build pipelines and enforce code quality with static analysis.
• Take part in hands-on testing, configuration and debugging in virtualized environments and physical RF site equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, or a Master's degree with relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in software development with modern Python.
• Strong understanding of Linux, user-space architecture and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, sockets).
• Practical experience with Linux user-space development and containerization platforms.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks.
• Ability to read, interface with and debug C/C++ codebases.
