Senior Specialist, Manufacturing Automation

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join the Digital Manufacturing Operations (DMO) team at our Biotech Dublin facility. You will support reliable, compliant and efficient operation of critical automation systems used to manufacture biologics, while contributing to continuous‑improvement and launch‑excellence projects that enhance manufacturing performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior automation support for manufacturing systems including DeltaV DCS, OEM systems, data historians and associated digital platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex automation and process‑control issues to ensure reliable operations, deviation resolution and right‑first‑time performance.
• Lead automation changes from scoping through implementation, ensuring delivery on schedule and compliance with site quality standards.
• Review equipment specifications, P&IDs, control strategies and lifecycle documentation to guarantee robust, compliant designs.
• Support commissioning, qualification, validation and test execution for new or modified automation systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years progressive automation or process‑control experience in a regulated GxP environment.
• Proven proficiency with Emerson DeltaV DCS and industrial PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms such as Siemens.
• Hands‑on experience with manufacturing data historians (e.g., OSIsoft PI).
• Experience delivering automation projects using SDLC/GAMP 5 methodologies and knowledge of ISA‑88 and ISA‑95.
