Setting Out Engineer – Civil Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Setting Out Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a large‑scale apartment development in Dublin 8. You will work closely with the Senior Engineer and site management team to ensure all civil works are accurately set out, surveyed and delivered to specification.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out setting out and surveying for all civil engineering works on the development.
• Use GPS equipment and robotic total stations to accurately position works on site.
• Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications and design requirements.
• Conduct site surveys, maintain accurate setting‑out records and assist with as‑built drawings.
• Monitor workmanship quality and report any design discrepancies.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and site personnel to ensure smooth delivery.
• Support site safety and health compliance and attend progress meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Setting Out Engineer on civil or construction projects.
• Experience working for a civil engineering contractor.
• Relevant degree or qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Eligible to work in Ireland and hold a full driving licence (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency with GPS equipment.
• Proficiency with robotic total stations.
• Surveying techniques and site measurement.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in construction.
