Software Engineer 3 – Developer Tools

About the role

MongoDB is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Developer Tools team within the Database Experience department. You will help build and maintain APIs and customer‑facing UIs that let users explore, query, and monitor their MongoDB deployments via tools such as MongoDB Compass and Atlas Data Explorer.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate backend services that power developer‑focused tools.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver seamless user experiences across desktop and web platforms.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation to ensure service reliability and incident response.
• Contribute to the architecture of scalable, high‑availability web applications.
• Work with microservice architectures and Kubernetes for deployment and operations.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience building backend systems using languages such as Java, C#, Go, or Node.js.
• Willingness to take on frontend tasks or work as a full‑stack engineer with a backend bias.
• Strong collaborative mindset and curiosity for solving complex distributed problems.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment.
