Software Engineer - Developer Experience

About the role

Paddle is looking for a Backend Engineer to join its Developer Experience (DX) team. You will own and improve the core services that enable thousands of developers to integrate Paddle’s billing platform, from APIs and SDKs to webhook and authentication systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high‑traffic backend services such as webhooks, email notifications, authentication, and the app marketplace.
• Develop and support SDKs in Go, Python, and PHP to accelerate developer integration.
• Improve API design, review changes, and enforce consistency across the platform.
• Operate and optimise AWS infrastructure (ECS, SQS, EventBridge, etc.) for reliability and performance.
• Perform code reviews, contribute to internal and external documentation, and collaborate with product, design, and technical writing teams.

Required profile

• Strong backend engineering experience with Go as the primary language.
• Solid understanding of API design principles and what makes an API developer‑friendly.
• Hands‑on experience running production services, handling alerts, and ensuring system stability.
• Ability to break down medium‑complexity problems and deliver solutions independently.
